Welcome to Step Out Sis, the podcast where we grow, heal, and walk confidently in God's calling. I am your host, Sharon. And sis, welcome to the summer series. This summer, we're slowing down, not to quit, not to disappear, but to breathe. Because sometimes healing isn't about pushing harder. Sometimes healing looks like resting, resetting, releasing pressure we were never meant to carry. This series is for the woman who has been strong for everybody else, but quietly running on empty. The woman who keeps showing up even while she's trying not to fall apart inside. So this summer on Step Out Sis, we're choosing peace over pressure, alignment over performance, and healing over pretending. Wherever you are, driving, walking, sitting in silence, or just trying to make it through the week, take a deep breath, sis. You don't have to carry everything into this next season. And with that, let's get into today's episode. Sis. This one right here is a little different. Not heavy, but honest, not harsh, but real. Because I had to sit with something this week. And I realized this wasn't about people, it was about me. We talk a lot about boundaries, setting limits with others, protecting our time, learning how to say no. But nobody really talks about this kind of boundary, the one we need to set with ourselves. And honestly, it made me think about Martha in the Bible. Martha loved Jesus. She wasn't doing anything wrong. She was serving, helping, preparing, and doing what needed to be done. But somewhere in the middle of all of that doing, she became overwhelmed. And Jesus didn't correct her for caring. He addressed the pressure she was carrying. He said, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. And sis, that part hit me differently because sometimes we get so consumed with doing that we lose our peace in the process. And if I'm honest, I've been tired, not just physically, but mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and I had to ask myself, where is this really coming from? And what God showed me was this it wasn't people draining me, it was the pressure I was putting on myself. The expectations, the constant thinking that I should be doing more, I should be further by now, I need to stay consistent, I can't fall off. But before I knew it, I wasn't showing up with purpose, I was showing up with pressure. Some of us aren't overwhelmed by what people expect of us, we're overwhelmed by what we expect of ourselves. We've normalized grind mode, we've normalized always thinking, always planning, always producing, and somewhere along the way, rest started to feel uncomfortable. Slowing down started to feel like falling behind, and peace started to feel unfamiliar. And here's what I had to face. If I don't set boundaries with myself, I will become the very thing that drains me. Not the assignment, not the calling, but me. And maybe that's why this summer feels different for me. And maybe for you too. Because when I think about summer, I think about the warmth, the ease, a deep breath, like a hug from God. And I realized I don't just need a break from doing, I need a break from the pressure. So this season I'm learning a different kind of discipline. Not just showing up, but knowing when to pause, knowing when to be still. Not just pushing through, but knowing when to release, not just being consistent, but being aligned. And for me, that looks like I'm not turning every quiet moment into work. I don't have to prove my work through productivity. I'm not abandoning myself just to meet expectations, and I'm not measuring my value by numbers, likes, or visibility. And maybe for you, it looks like something different. But I want you to ask yourself, where am I overextending myself because of me? Not because of people, but because of the expectations I have been carrying. Sis, you don't need more pressure to become who God called you to be. You don't need to prove anything. You don't need to rush what God is already unfolding. Maybe this season, the boundary you need most is the one you set with yourself. As we close, if this spoke to you, take a moment this week and give yourself permission to do less, to breathe, to reset, and sis.
